Phyllis Dean Callahan, age 73, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away October 1, 2020 at Cottage Lane Rehabilitation Center from COVID-19. Phyllis was born in Hickory Ridge, Arkansas on March 18, 1947 to Jessie Earline (Dixon) and Roy Glynn Callahan. After graduating from Forrest City High School in 1965, Phyllis was a licensed practical nurse for many years. Phyllis was a smart, passionate woman who made sure her children and nieces knew that a woman can do whatever she sets her mind to. Phyllis was an excellent cook who made sure her children ate their vegetables and learned how to cook for themselves. She was an avid seamstress and a crochet master. She passed her love of reading on to her children and many others. She loved animals.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Glenda. She is survived by a sister, Annette Tracy; a brother, Teddy Joe Callahan; and her children, Gina Cothern Dougherty and Dani Cothern, and her daughter-in-law, Angelic Rodgers; nieces and nephews Jill Adamson, Kelly Knuckles, Jeff Harper, Shannon Callahan, Susan Ulrich, Perry Wright, Jr. and Jessica Jameson.
A memorial service will be held in March 2021 in honor of her birthday. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to the Pulaski County Humane Society.
